Sometime during the summer of 2015, I developed a constant dull and aching pain in my left foot, primarily in the area of my heel. My symptoms matched up with a self diagnosis of Plantar Fasciitis. At that time I was a 67 year old retired police officer working a full time retirement job that required me to be on my feet most of the day. I was a former marathon runner in good shape, for my age, who worked out five times a week and was not overweight.

Prior to seeing Dr. Darin Bocian, I tried heat and cold applications, stretching exercises, a foot brace, compression socks, various pain ointments, shoe orthotics, and cortisone shots. Nothing seemed to help and the pain was increasing. The pain was limiting my activities and restricting my hiking and working out. I was beginning to consider quitting my job. It was depressing and very definitely affecting my quality of life.

A friend, who was being treated for an Achilles Tendon problem referred me to Dr. Darin Bocian. Dr. Bocian diagnosed me with classic chronic Plantar Fasciitis and suggested a course of treatment utilizing the Cutera Genesis Laser. I received ten weekly treatments with the laser which lasted between five and ten minutes, per session, and were painless. I didn’t notice much improvement through the first three or four treatments. After about treatment five my Plantar Fasciitis improved weekly. Within a month after the tenth treatment my pain was reduced approximately 95%.

During the summer of 2016 I began to suffer Plantar Fasciitis symptoms in my right foot. Once again I tried most of the self treatments that I had tried with my left foot with little symptom relief. I
also tried physical therapy on both my feet to relieve pain and help me to continue working. By the summer of 2017 my left foot was completely healed and my right foot was killing me. I once again contacted Dr. Bocian and began another course of ten treatments with the Cutera Genesis Laser on my right heal. My last treatment was 10/18/17. My foot and heel are approximately 95% better. I will be fully retired in two months and will no longer be standing up most of the day.

Although I will be 69 years old in a week, I believe the combination of retirement and the laser treatments will leave me close to fully free of Plantar Fasciitis.

I am extremely satisfied with the laser treatments and would highly recommend them to individuals suffering from Plantar Fasciitis. I am now back to planning a Rim to Rim hike of the Grand Canyon.
