Are you feeling the thrill of victory or the agony of the feet? Your feet take much more than their fair share of abuse, from running around in flimsy flip-flops to getting stuffed into strappy stilettos. Your feet really don’t get the attention they so well deserve, until they start to hurt. When your feet hurt, it’s not something you can just kick aside, it needs to be dealt with, properly. If you suffer from sore feet, here are a few common ailments that could be affecting you.

A sharp pain in your heal that tends to feel worse when you get out of bed might just be due to plantar fasciitis. The cause is inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is the thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your feet. Those with all arch types are prone to this condition. Wearing shoes that are very flat or have very high heels can make the condition worse. If the type of shoes you wear doesn’t support the arch, it can cause inflammation.

A throbbing sensation on the side of your big toe is an indication you might have an ingrown toenail. This condition exists if you cut your toenails wrong or if you are wearing shoes that are too tight.  If you spot an infection, you should contact your podiatrist.

A bump on the back of your heal might just be caused by bursitis. Bursitis is often referred to as a “pump bump” as the bone can become irritated from wearing heels.
